Depriving yourself food may seem like a fast way to lose weight, however, it can be extremely harmful to your health. By following these top five tips, you will be able to lose and maintain your ideal weight.

1. Portion Control

By properly portioning your meals, you will be able to eat what you want and still lose weight. Some people may think that even though they are eating healthy foods, they can eat as much of it as they want. This is very untrue. Even if you are eating healthy foods and meals, if you are overeating you will still have trouble losing weight or maintaining your weight. Follow standard serving sizes when preparing a meal. You may want to also use a kitchen scale to measure the amount of food you are going to be eating.

2. Eat and Chew Slower

Scientific studies have shown that our brains take about twenty minutes to realize that our stomachs are full. If you eat a large meal quickly, you will wind up overeating before your brain tells you that you are full. By eating slower, you are allowing your brain to process the information, allowing you to be fuller; faster.

3. Drink Water Before Eating

Many times, people mistake thirst for hunger. Our bodies crave water more than food, so it might be possible that your body is just overly thirsty. You may want to drink clean, plain water before eating something. If you are still hungry after drinking the water, then you can portion your food and enjoy it.

4. Eat Different Foods

Many people who follow crash diet plans find that they become bored with their food choices. The truth of the matter is that the same foods become boring after we eat them for long periods of time. Many of us will stop our diets soon just because we became bored with the food choices. By varying your food choice you are not only allowing your body to eat different foods but also allowing your diet to consist of foods that offer many different nutrients for your body.

5. Learn About Foods

It is a good idea to learn about the different foods that you would like to start eating. Keeping a list of fat burning foods is a great way to keep track of the foods you like which are also good for you. Educate yourself on how many carbohydrates and calories are in your favorite foods. Doing your research to come up with a list of fat burning foods is a fantastic idea when you are looking to lose some weight.
